What We Do

The Black Treatment Advocates Network Los Angeles (BTAN LA) is a collaboration of community advocates and organizations working together to connect members of the Black community to HIV education, prevention and treatment services with the ultimate goal of fighting stigma, preventing new infections, and achieving viral suppression in the Black community.

BTAN LA helps to accomplish these goals through:

Unique HIV testing strategies and incentives

Peer mentor and buddy programs to link people and help them stay in care

Treatment information and scientific updates

Building communities through social activities

The Drive Out AIDS testing campaign

Support for Treatment-as-Prevention

Linkage to PrEP and PEP

Monthly meetings for networking and strategy development

Educational forums

We can end the AIDS epidemic in our communities but we can't do it without you.

Our Programs

Peer To Peer Program

BTAN LA’s Peer To Peer Program is designed to motivate young Black gay and bisexual men to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Los Angeles. Peers work to link Black Angelinos to HIV prevention services, treatment, education, and other essential services. Peers also work together to fight stigma, increase knowledge and life skills, maximize retention of HIV science, engage in peer support and guidance, and build community through trainings, team activities and social events.
